About Kukula Safaris

Our Story

Kukula began as a farm. For years, the land carried crops, cattle, and the daily rhythm of agriculture. A few years ago, we shifted course and gave nature the space to reclaim her ground. What happened next surprised even us: the soil softened, grasses surged back, and the bush steadily re-established itself. With a handful of animals introduced, wildlife flourished so quickly that our ten-year plan was cut in half. Kukula grew faster than we ever imagined — and today, it’s a thriving sanctuary where the bush feels alive again.

Why Here?

We chose to do this here because it mattered. Mazabuka isn’t just sugar cane and small-town life — it’s a crossroads between farming and wilderness. Our land sat waiting on the edge, and we wanted to prove that with patience (and a fair amount of stubbornness), you can bring a landscape back to life. Kukula is that living proof: a wild patch that shows what happens when you stop pushing against nature and start working with it.

Our Promise

When you stay with us, you’re part of the story. Your visit helps us continue protecting the land, supporting local communities, and ensuring that the wild here keeps thriving. We promise to keep Kukula authentic — a place where wildlife comes first, comfort fits naturally, and guests leave with a sense of connection.

No name tags, no “management speak” — just real faces who live this life with you.

The People

Behind Kukula is a small, hands-on team who live here, work here, and care deeply about what’s growing around us. There’s no faceless management or endless staff chain — we keep it personal. Guests often find themselves chatting with the same people who manage the land, track the animals, or light the fire at night. That’s the way we like it: honest, simple, and involved.
